I downloaded this for free when there was a special on Amazon to my Kindle app. Saying that I'm hoping that the downloadable copy that I received is different from the hardcopies and other downloads out there because there was so many errors in mine that it was distracting. Some examples: "I shake my head at thought of Amy Ashby, a woman whose fame is equal to my own, a woman whose jaded outlook on life surpasses even my own." "She's also a cold-hearted bitch. It's one of things I like about her." ""Seriously?" She stares at me as drop into the driver's seat." "Trust me, it's for your own good. I won't call you because I want to you protect you from that." ""I'm sorry," I tell them. "I didn't meant offend you." "And if I'm going to hell for all the shit that I do, I might as well make the crime fits the punishment." "Glancing down, I see that it's her panties, a tiny piece of silk and lace meant to turn to me on." "She would horrified if she knew I was here, if she knew how far I've fallen into the darkness." The book was sex. Every page was sex and not real sex but kinky thrown together pieces that lacked a story. This was my first read from this author and I have no interest in reading another if it's about abuse and anal constantly with such a lack of a story line. I gave this one star. Oh and the cover looks like a darker skinned male but then her next book is a white guy. After the first chapter I almost stopped reading it when I realized that it wasn't another book in a sequel but an author trying to write the same book twice just from the other persons perspective. I'm so glad I kept with it though. I've read so many books that have have paragraphs of dialogue verbatim from the last book and it feels like a waste of time reading the same thing twice with a few paragraphs at the beginning or end being the only difference. This book exceeded my expectations and renewed my faith is other perspective books. It was brilliant. It felt like a completely different book and intertwined the love story in his life story. The first book was great but this book was amazing. I loved how it started the story in detail of him growing up and also of farther down the road when the love story started both at the beginning then both stories took root and developed and at the end of the book both present and past stories met and melded together towards the end. Harmony. I gave this five stars. I realized this morning that I was born in the year of the sheep so maybe I'll be blessed with a full year of great reads like this as well as the past few books that have far exceeded my expectations. I had a good bias for this author but a bad one for the genre of this book. I should have known Abbi Glines would pull through and wow me once again though. I loved this book. It had a twist ending that will draw me back. The character development was a little lacking, it's hard to imagine having a best friend forever that doesn't realize before now that you talk and see dead people...how are these people so oblivious and self-centered. I wasn't thrilled with how one of the guys was dragged through and treated like an after thought so it makes me more interested in reading to see some redemption for him. That was disappointing and I was distracted by him being treated badly in the background of the plot other than that it was unique and caught your attention. I gave this four stars. A fun, light story. It had flirting and more realistic struggles. It didn't get too deep into her heritage and overwork that it had a great balance of fun and conflict. I loved the ending and the epilogue was a cute accent to the story I liked the guy from the first book and was hoping I'd see more of him. I gave this five stars because it wasn't dirty and too deep but a refreshing fun flirty book to read. This was the typical bad boy story so it took a while to get into it but after a while it put on a twist that kept me interested. Instead of the stereotypical love story between a bad boy and a good girl it added a little bit a twist in the story line with some suspense and mystery that was fun to figure out. I gave the story four stars mostly because of the predictable plot. My life has been busy lately but today I kind of had a break so I'll say...I got called for jury duty. I had hour after hour of sitting and waiting until they finally picked me just to have the defendant run during the lunch break. Instead of coming to a decision he now has a warrant out and we were dismissed. Fun day but I got enough free time to finish two books I was reading. This was the first book of the genre I've read and it might have turned me to start reading more like it. I found this author because of my upcoming attendance to the giant book fair in Dallas this May and wanted to read some of the authors before I got the chance to meet them. This book had an imagination that was outstanding. It was well written and intriguing. I would have never dreamed things like this up and I love that the old would was intertwined and explained how they got to that point. Great story line and fun read. I gave this five stars as well. The author was so kind to give me a chance to read this in an exchange for a review. I while back she gave me a sneak peak of this cover that I posted. I loved this book just as I did the last book. It had a great story line that held depth and had intimacy with chapters filled of explicit sex scenes. You get to see what happens with the couple from the last book which was my one complaint how short of an ending and how the reader was left hanging with so many questions. She did a great job and I would recommend this series this so far my favorite of the two I've read. I gave this five stars. |
