...
Aspiring chef Cade Maxwell is immediately, viscerally attracted to Winter Jacobson. But it’s not her mouthwatering curves he’s drawn to—it’s the strange emptiness in her eyes. When Cade saves her from a drunken customer with grabby hands, he’s shocked at her response ... Winter doesn’t need Cade’s help. After a lifetime of getting by on her own, she’s happy to rely on herself. She’s exactly seventy-six days away from graduating college, and if she can hold it together that long, she’ll finally be able to rise above the crappy hand she was dealt. But now, every time she turns around, Cade is there, ready to push her, smile at her, distract her from her plans. Winter knows she can’t afford to open up—especially to a man she’s terrified to actually want . 304 pages Published November 4th 2014 Current GoodReads Rating: 3.81 stars https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19101162-caged-in-winter My Review: I enjoyed that the main character was a chef. It gave it a lighter story than the bad guy, drug addicts and alcoholics these stories usually include. I liked also that they had similar but very different background stories but I would have liked more flashbacks or depth into their stories and what made them who they are. Their stories is what makes you fall in love and connect with the characters so much more. The few things that did make me feel a little for their relationship was the persistent and the acceptance but without the love of the characters it didn't fill me up completely but it was a good story line. I gave this book four stars. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RZVNDSS?ie=UTF8&redirectFromSS=1&pc_redir=T1&noEncodingTag=1&fp=1 I couldn't pass the opportunity to share this amazing deal Colleen Hoover just shared on her Facebook page. I'm not sure how long it will last but as today, May 4, 2015 at 9:10 PM central it's going on and I just finished downloading my free copy of Never Never from Amazon to my kindle app on my iPhone. Wooooo!!!! Stay posted for the review because this book just bumped up in my reading list. Plot: Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen. Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.
Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope. Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart. 317 pages Published January 5th 2012 Current GoodReads Rating: 4.32 stars https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13372690-slammed My Review: I'm happy I splurged on this book. I don't know if there is a book of hers that I haven't fallen in love with. I got nervous with it diving in head first but like always her plot sparkled and intrigued. I loved all the twists and turns and crazy fates that played out. The beautiful background story with her best friend was an unexpected smile. I think I fell in love just as much with the other characters as I did with the main two. The snowmen and the lungs made it such a down to earth relatable plot that it was hard not to fall in love with the entire family. I gave this five stars. I've already finished three other book since finishing this one two days ago and I can't get it out of my head. It's a book that sticks with you. |
